Members steve mac
A couple of years ago I did both a lunchtime gig and an evening one on Christmas Day, I have no shame.
Members pogo97
Did you charge extra? You are in a largely-Muslim country -- I'm assuming Christmas day is less important in Turkey than here.
Members steve mac
I did charge extra for the first lunchtime one but the other was a favour for a friend and regular employer so it was the usual plus meals and drinks for me and the missus. I do live in a predominantly, but not exclusively Muslim country (less every day it seems) but both restaurants where in a British tourist area where Christmas is a huge deal. To be honest I love doing Christmas songs it's such a change from the same old same old, in fact I like the change of all the specialist days, a couple of weeks ago it was St George's day, now that took some thinking. Members Shaster
I don't play much on St. Patrick's Day or Valentine's day anymore, but when I did, I can't recall getting more money. I do tend to play Christmas Eve and Christmas Day when offered. This normally happens at a hotel or casino. In those cases it's time and a half for Christmas Eve, and double time for Christmas Day. Last year I worked from 3 to 5 pm on Christmas Eve and still made time and a half - I guess it applies to the whole day... I also worked Christmas and New Year's so it was a somewhat lucrative few days - for a change!
Members Notes_Norton
Our big money days are:Halloween,New Year's Eve,Valentine's DaySt Patrick's Day We often do 3 or 4 in a row. I'll give condominiums a special price if they take it a day or two early, or the weekend before, and since they are mostly filled with retirees, they gladly go for the reduced rate. We even do a New Year's Day party and have done so for many, many years. The condo doesn't have a NYE party, so we start the party asking people who didn't stay up until midnight to raise their hands, then we do the count off and Auld Lang Syne. Our busy season starts a couple of weeks before Halloween, it dies on Easter, and they bury it on Mother's day - then rigor mortis sets in. Members pogo97
The season in Gananoque is about the opposite. There is a resident population here, but we're not well-to-do big spenders for the most part. Those who can afford it (and want it) are returning from the south as I type these words.
