Members mofat
What are the pros and cons. What's their ( main inserts) true purpose? I've alway use the main out for my EQ.
Members agedhorse
On today's more pro gear, and with reasonable gain structure, it really makes little difference one way or the other.
Members RoadRanger
The "big" advantage historically was that the EQ's were usually unbalanced (as were the inserts) so if you needed balanced outputs to drive your lines doing it that way was the way to go. It also let you see what your EQ was doing to the drive levels on the mixer's VU meters.
Members WynnD
I've done it both ways. Now I'm usually putting the output into a DriveRack PX so the EQ is after the mixer.
