Chick Corea's one of my absolute favourite musicians. Period. He may do "that scientology {censored}" (as described by Joe Farrell), but that doesn't stop his music from being so great. If you really feel strongly about it, you could just download the music online for the assurance that no tiny fraction of the money you spend on CDs will going to the Church of Scientology. Don't let the cult stuff he's involved in (and likely forced into staying with) shouldn't affect whether you enjoy his music or not.

When I found out Beethoven was deaf I realised his music being any good was really only a question of writing enough stuff and by the law of averages some of it making sense.

Not necessarily. He certainly wasn't deaf his whole life.

I really hope the child porn stuff about Pete Townshend was just a misunderstanding. That one really bugged me.

He said it was about research, and I spose it could be very easily true if he was disturbed by reports of child abuse/satanism or whatever and he was following a trail. But we really don't know. And if that is the reason, it's an awful shame that it's gotten tagged onto him.

Gary Numan ... hair plugs ... I still worship him, but not for his hair ...

I mean the guy's got more mane than when friends were electric 25 years ago. What's wrong with being bald?

On the other hand, he's quite candid about the whole thing in his EXCELLENT autobiography PRAYING TO THE ALIENS

Plus, he's really into flying planes and crashing them ... another "star" thing -- think John Travolta, John Kennedy Jr. -- that's mildly annoying.

Leave the flying to the pros, Gar. Focus on making some more great music ...

. . . . . .

Roland ... the sad day I realized they were a Japanese company and not German ... Is that a common super-noob perception?

. . . .

OT: Lynda Carter is a born-again Christian and is married to a billionaire who got off charges he stole hundreds of millions ... Well, I'm happy as long as she's happy, I guess.

Yngwie Malmsteen - I still love the first Rising Force album, and when I started playing guitar he was one of my idols. But the more I read about him and realized how close-minded and stuck up he is/was, I was like 'meh...whatever'. Then I saw him in concert a couple years ago, and his people were messing with Geroge Lynch's sound during his performance - like dropping the volume so you couldnt hear Lynch's solos. It was really disrespectful and pathetic - because George Lynch sounded freakin' wicked.

When Yngwie came out out on stage in the pirate clothes, balding and fat as hell - I just started laughing out loud.

That did it right there, he lost guitar-god status for me. (although I still appreciate his technique and practice some of his licks to keep my chops up).

Beastie Boys, but their music changed fairly dramtically about the same time as when they became hardcore commie nutters. There latest album is complete trash.

The Beastie Boys have always sucked.

The original title to License to Ill was All Faggots Must Die. That's why there's a crashed plane on the album cover.

And that was a {censored}ing great album. I really doubt that claim is true, but I wouldn't care if it was. It is sisified PC nonsense that ruined the beastie boys. Anyone so easily offended by such a title deserves to be offended.

If your so hardcore, what are doing using a computer? Hell, I'm surprised you can even spell a word.

Don't you have some ho's to slap?

I can't spot the correlation between disliking people who are easily offended and knowledge of spelling.

where did you hear that (bull{censored}?) about the Beastie Boys? not sure i believe that at all, they sure never came off like that with any of their early lyrics. Paul's Boutique is still one of the best hip-hop albums ever produced, imo at least. still sounds fresh. can't say i'm into much of their stuff after Check Your Head though...

i love Misfits/Samhain/Danzig (1-4 at least), but Glenn Danzig is a self-absorbed prick.

i'm sure i'm forgetting others...

Come on, you can do better than that, such as:

I only need ONE hand for slappin hos

I switch hands between beatdowns

I have my bitches do the typing while I do the striking

The own lee thing I needs to spell iz "bitch wherez my money"

That's what guns are for

Anyway, you get the picture

I don't just music by the person who made it. I don't care what Pete Townshend or others may have done privately. If I liked their music before, I like it now.

What musician isn't a little bit screwed up, anyway. Do you want someone to say, "Hey, I thought that was a great tune until I found out that you used to smoke pot, you loser!" What difference does it make? The art is the art, and the artist is just a person. Many of my musical heros had something seriously wrong with them. So what? I'm not some {censored}-for-brains fundamentalist who burns Beatles records because of a single quotation.

Charlie Parker - doper - great music

Art Tatum - alchy - great music

Jaco - bi-polar - great music

Frank Rossolino - killed his family - great trombonist

Cat Stevens - went Islamo-wacko for a while - catchy tunes

Toby Kieth and The Dixie Chicks - political lightening rods - great performers

Beethoven was nuts. His studio looked as though it had been pounded by a hurricane. Stuff was strewn everywhere, including rotting food and uncovered bowls of human waste. I'm only interested in his music, not being his best friend. Listen and let live.

George Michael.

Once a great singer, great songwriter. It's not that he's gay now that I don't respect him anymore, it's just how he handled himself (no pun intended) during that process.

I mean Elton John, I still have a lot of respect for him...

Don't matter anyway cos after the early 90s, George Michael's music seriously sucked, regardless of his orientation.
