Members AJ6stringsting
For years, I've been a Shred Guitar kind of guy and I was lucky to run across a great Funk Guitar player !!!!All I got to say is, never ever close your mind to other styles, because that other style may fire up your playing in ways you never thought possible !!!! Members jeremy_green
100% agreed. I have had as much inspiration from music outside my favourite genres than from inside. There is a reason these forms of music exist. Whatever you hear absolutely slays SOMEONE. If you can see it from their perspective there is much to be learned in that. Members benzem
Yes much can be stolen from a good funk player's technique. The strumming, the muting...gotta be spot on.
Members 1001gear
So this guy have a name? If there is such a position it's occupied by dozens and dozens of expert jazz guys. That funkmeister strat guy - I forget his name - might be authentic but aside from there's certain ways to get down, what's mastery got to do with it? As to horizons, if you're on shred, absolutely by all means make an attempt to try music as well.
Members Yer Dad
If there is such a position it's occupied by dozens and dozens of expert jazz guys. That's really true. so many of the great funk players were not Jazz players at. Sure, some might have been. But look at Jimmy Nolan. He wasn't a Jazz player, just R&B/soul. there are quire a few "funk masters" who are just rock players in funk clothing. But I'm with you, does this guy have a name?
