Members HuskerDude
Can these guys do a passable job at say, an SP1200 sound? I'd really like that great old hip-hop sound for drums, etc. but $1300 is out of my range at the moment. I'd love a good plugin (I use Logic), but something like a Bitrman or any outboard box would be fine, too. I'm sure there's more to the 1200 than just the 12-bit rate, but would this be a good start? Members Awake77
NI Battery has a bitrate reducer. Works good to add some trashiness.
Members The Audacity Works
Logic's Bitcrusher works wonders on drums, vocals, synth basses...
Members asynchro_nous
Any thoughts on Alesis' Bitrman anybody? HC user reviews are rather glowing. And it certainly looks cool as hell.
Members MuzikB
I enjoy Redux in Live 5. Works well with Impulse and Kontakt 2 IMO.
Members ShakaCthulu
I have a Bitrman, it's pretty good, but nothing like the old 8bit and 12 bit samplers. I like the Ringmod on it more than the Bit Reduction. Mirages, Emaxes, are cheap, Dss-1's are cheap, etc, I'd just look for one of those, or that Casio Rz-1, can't remember what bit that was though, I'm thinking 8 or 12. Members kooki_sf
throw in a brick wall lowpass filter set to cut at half the sample rate before you run the signal through the bit crusher and it will be a lil more authentic.
Members rjx
If you are after a 1200 sound, look into the sp12, or even cheaper, emax. I say look into the emax! GREAT sound!
Members greaseenvelope
Bitr on drums is good for a NIN, not lo-fi hop-hop, sound.
