Members skunky_funk
OK vintage effects aficionados. Before some people start dissing vintage stuff, I just want to know what kind of VINTAGE wah is BEST FOR BOTH QUALITY AND VALUE FOR MONEY. So here are the poll options: VOX V846VOX CLYDE MCCOY (The real deal - but too expensive)VOX KING WAHTHOMAS ORGAN CRYBABY (Chicago version with Stack-of-dimes inductor)THOMAS ORGAN CRYBABY (Sepulveda version with square TDK inductor)DeArmond WeeperFoxx wahFoxx fuzz wah
Members Wyatt
I voted other, just becasue I think the Colorsound is one of the best bang for the buck in vintage wahs. I did have a very early Dunlop, which was identical to a stack-of-dimes Thomas Organ, which was a great pukey wah but became mellow after I had to switch the pot. -Y. Members Lanefair
The fact that you can even name so many vintage wahs should qualify you to answer your own question!
Members skunky_funk
{censored}, I forgot to include the Jen Super Crybaby with the Fasel...
Members Sir H C
The Jen is just like any other Fasel loaded wah (maybe some minor circuit differences but nothing much). You are missing some of my fav's: Rosac Nu Wa Colorsound (mentioned above) Maestro Boomerang Electro Harmonix Crying Tone
Members Wyatt
The is also the old AC-powered Mutron Wah, as used by Santana. -Y.
Members jonny guitar
Out of those I have to go with "other" because I have a De'Armond Thunderbolt Fuzz wah (fuzz optional) which is fantastic. It sounds nicer than my It. Jen Red, Thomas TDK and Picture Wah. It has the sweep of colorsound with a more throaty swampy character to it. Members AbbeSauniere
I think the 1st series Maestro Boomerangs are the best bang for the buck, sleeper vintage wahs! They don't come around as often as the Boomerang 2's, but don't really sell for much more. Ugly ass casing, but the tone is awesome!
