Members OldCrankyDouche
that is so {censored}ing sweet dude.. how do the pups sound? Thanks to you as well. I think that they sound pretty good. Not amazing, but pretty good. Im not really experienced with different pickups, so I cant really say for sure. They sound good to my ears, and there is not any noticable noise.I use my RAT with a decent amount of distortion, and it goes from crisp/crunchy in the bridge to warm/fuzzy in the bridge. I switch to the neck for soloing. With cleans, the bridge is perfect, IMO. With the neck, it almost soudns like a bass. LOL. I roll the Tone knob all the way down and play a little line into my looper for faux bass. Honestly, I couldnt be happier, and it was less than $400 new with 3 day shipping. Members mrbassie
for as much as you think i'm out to kill you, there are some things we are firmly on the same page on. otoh, the harms (strat/lp/dc/rick knockoff ) strike me as one to have. so if one pays say $1100 for a guitar, they should get $1100 worth of guitar, right? if one gets what one pays for? but then where exactly does the money for all that other crap come from? stuff like say, paying for NAMM booths (union labor, trucking companies)/etc and all the shmoozing (at hotel bar&food&service rates), print media, celebrity endorsement, store schwag, prime time tv adverts, corporate culture (for the few at the top, Harvard business school grads do not come cheap) --- how exactly does that get paid for, if what you pay for the guitar goes strictly into the guitar? cuz you get what you pay for?? i dont get it. A fellow Bostonian... ha ha. Although I now live in SoCal.Anyways, I see your point. But lets just narrow this down a bit. Better wood, better craftsmanship, and better hardware... and hopefully good QC.Lets take Fender for example. Why do you think fender has 3 lines? Squire, Mexican, and American. Do you think Mexican made strats are the same as American made strats?

Members medvejonok
Man, you should be able to find an Epiphone Elite/Elitist in good shape for around $600. Based on comparisons I've done, they are very simply exceptional Les Pauls. In fact, they are more the quintessential LP than a lot of LPs Gibson is making these days. I picked up a Epiphone Les Paul 1956 Goldtop w/ P90's @ GC's Memorial Day Sale for $399, I can't find a thing wrong with it, I don't even want to change the pups...the alnico ones it came with sound just fine It makes real big tones without a big price tag! Who knew?
