Ever play a gig down town, and have to park 5 blocks away... then haul your fender twin all the way to the venue.... weight is exactly the appeal... and well cost... althogh that is not proving true on this price tag. Made back before they started making everything in china. it was heavy, and it wouldn't die, and most of all it worked really well in both bands i used it with tonewise.it actually weighed a bit more than a twin. They used to not worry about it when a few people a year died.
