I think i got more into effects after i started buying some. Pulling cooler sounds out of the guitar.

 

A local guy named Alex Callenberger had a big influence on me with effects and just general playing.

 

One of his bands, just jammy stuff. His other band Electric Volcano Experiment is {censored}ing ridiculous.

this, starsail by the verve, the "rock in a weary land" album by the waterboys, and i used to buy old analog pedals for $10-30 back in the day. perfect to experiement. not any more though, those days are looooooooooooong gone

I listened to a lot of their songs, but didn't notice anything except wah and distortion. They do have a very dense sound...



They use wah for so many things, though. :love:

They do use phaser from time to time. And reverb is pretty essential to their sound IMO.

Eminence Front. I wanted to play the synth parts on guitar.

But seriously, when I started abusing effects, I hadn't listened to much that made me think, "Wow, what is he using to get that sound?" I just wanted what I was playing to sound {censored}ed.
