Members Vince
...be on one page on your website, but keep playing when you move around pages? dunno. you could always bring up new content into the same page rather than moving to new pages. Members juice
Quickest solution I can think of is to use i-frames. Keep the player in a container that remains constant while the new "pages" load in your frame. Make sure your navigation is solid since you lose the foward/back button functionality. And forget about SEO.
Members Kid_A
Ahhhhh thanks for the tips! Ill try the iframe idea... seems logical to me now!
Members juice
Only other option is to do the whole site in Flash, at least that I'm aware of.
Members ben_allison
iFrames are embedded WITHIN a page. You need regular frames. One frame is persistent (player) and one frame will have the rest of the web info.
Members juice
^^ yeah, that's what I meant. I try to avoid frames whenever possible. Thanks for the clarification.

Members ben_allison
Yeah, I never use frames. This is basically the only thing their good for!
Members ambientnoize
What about an external pop up player? I'm sure there was something a few years ago which had this capability? Radio blog club or something along those lines. You'd be able to click a button to launch the player on the main page and once it's open the user can go to any page they like. Members theboywho
I think reverb nation have a pop up widget, if not its easy enough to use one to do it. the problem with flash, and I'm not sure if its the same with frames, haven't used them in ages, is that people will try to press back to go back a page and leave the site. Members ambientnoize
yeah, frames in general are so limiting. if it's a small page just to showcase some things which won't update in a while, then fair enough.. but if you expect to easily constantly update... dream on lol
Members ben_allison
POP-UPS WILL ONLY WORK IF THE USER INITIATES THE POP UP (AS IN, "CLICK HERE FOR PLAYER") BECAUSE OF BLOCKERS. BUT YEAH, IT'S PROBABLY A BETTER WAY TO GO THAN FRAMES BECAUSE FRAMES ARE SO 1998. Damn, sorry about that guys. Stupid noob delay thread... Members spentron
Every computer I'm aware of comes with a player built-in. There is no need for an embedded player of any kind. Since the player is not part of the browser it is not affected by which page you are viewing.

Members blueballoon
Can you use frames and be standards-compliant at the same time?
