Members Jisatsu
I want to try a rat again. It's been about 6 years since I've touched one, and it was probably the most horrible peice of crap I'd ever tried. From demo's, clips and bands that use them, I KNOW they can sound good. What mods are there out there, and who makes a good clone pre-modded? Just school me on Rats in general please.
Members woolyh
you can mod any Rat to a Turbo Rat super easy, I think it's worth doing
Members Mr. Sarum
Ask Tom vandeven. His RAT is probably the only RAT tone I've ever liked. He should have the goods.
Members who235
Reutz mod is where it's at. Clip one resistor and you have a much smoother, lower gain RAT that kicks ass.

Do you know if that mod is toggle switchable? Sometimes nasty ugly gritty gain is useful. Again I'm a total Rat nooooob. Hook up the knowledge. It can be made switchable or you can replace the resistor with a pot for stock sound, ruetz sound, and a great range of stuff in between. Members Rizza
Yeah, it has the LM308, Ruetz (lower gain mod), Lube knob (for bass retention), blue LED, Boss 9VDC, replacement 3DPT and knobs, and 3-way toggle for LM308, Turbo Rat and mosfet boost modes. S'good. It does sound great.

Members onewhiteduck
My '87 Rat 2 needs no modding! It's hard to get a bad tone from it. I prefer the gain between 9 and 12, tone around 2, volume around 2.
