Members Kid_A
Not been around much recently, so hope everyone had a good Christmas and New years... (can you still say happy new year? Whats the cut off point?!) So, I need an amp to pair with my Fender 75 1x15 amp... this amp is plenty bassy for my needs, but need something to go stereo. I really dont want to spend a lot
Members dangerous dan
Laney make a 15W or 20W valve 1x12" whuich is pretty cheap and sounded good when I played it, it had a decent mid and high end.. LC15 or something like that it's called. I think you can say happy new year pretty much any time, soem country is always celebrating a new year
Members THAT4301
I think the clean of the laney VC15R would be more to taste; the LC amps are more marshally voiced and the VC more Voxy.
Members theboywho
No use at all, but I have been listening to your E.P on Spotify a bit recently, it's really good...

Members THAT4301
Interesting to know.... but again, Laney just never seemed to sound good to me What've you tried of theirs? But fair's fair, I say the same thing about marshalls
Members Kid_A
I have actually tried both the VC and LC range, found them both to be very very boxy sounding and just meh... Reason why i ask about the Vox VT40, im not really fussed about my amp being VALVEZZZzzz, and the Vox seems to be getting a lot of rave reviews... The Vox Escort i mentioned seems to be popping up for cheaps all over lately, its vintage, Vox and transistor... something new for me to try possibly? Members gae86
Don't if can help but I gigged several time with a crate power block. It's a very tiny transistor head with something like 150w if I recall correctly, really huge sounding. It had a master volume, a gain and a 3-band eq. I liked it a lot and took pedals really well! It is discontinued but goes for really low prices!

Just been listening to this now, sounds awesome. Reminds me of what I missed about the Cooper Temple Clause. The Vox AD-40 would be a good shout I reckon - I've got the Ad-15 and it sounds lovely. Plenty versatile and the vox models would compliment your bassy fender well.
Members ChuckNorris1982
Daz, have you thought about an old 80s SS Fender? I had one of those red knob 85 amps that Johnny Greenwood has, and honestly it has one of the best clean tones I've ever heard. Plenty loud too. Apparently Greenwood uses it for the dirt channel, which I don't really understand because the dirt channel sounds like absolute {censored}, but the cleans are brilliant and you can scroe them for about

Any gigs coming up? Did Netstar sell that Fender SS amp he had in the spam, that might work well? Or maybe one of those new Vox AC-but-not-really-because-I'm-Solid-State amps, they're cheapish and apparently not too bad.
Members hangwire
Go for something with 10" speakers- it will be a nice stereo compliment regardless of other amp specs.

Members ChuckNorris1982
I thought I heard he used the dirt channel, but I'm not much of a fan so I'm not too familiar with his gear. I do know the clean channel is great though
Members HeartfeltDawn
SS for cheap with solid bass: old Yamaha amps. The Yamaha Fifty-112 I have is like this one: 8f_EL1dzuEQ The bass is great, very powerful. I keep the bass on 2, the treble and mids on 1, and use the bright knob (pretty much presence) for some high end. It's a better clean sound than the JC-120 in my opinion. Currently I'm looking to run this in stereo with a Princeton Reverb with an analogue chorus going into the Yamaha for clean chorus sounds. Gumtree would be your best bet. You may even get the 2x12" version for a good price. The 2x12" weighs a ton and often sells for cash on collection prices of around a ton on Ebay.
