So yah, im pretty stumped, i have a few songs but they have to be relevant to the book. One for sure i am using is "Requiem for a Dream", but other than that i keep hovering back to Beethoven and Schubert. So any cool dark and scary songs you guys can think of? It can be modern.

Why are you posting then? Get to work man, start writing.

like my own music? or do you mean write the script or something? cause that parts done. I gotta turn in the list of songs before i actually record the "movie" (it's probably gonna be crap).

But doing the music myself might be kinda cool, im stupid for not thinking of it before. Thanks.

But yeah, I wrote a whole soundtrack for a zombie movie recently. Some of that might be usable to you.

e.g.

http://soundcloud.com/cjmventer/cjmventer-another-road

Like, I wrote this stuff for specific scenes but these are more ambient tracks than others so they're not hard to use.

I haven't uploaded everything from the movie (it's about a 70 minute soundtrack or so), because I am putting together an OST for release, but here is the rest of what's online:

http://soundcloud.com/cjmventer/cjmventer-theme-from-they-walk-graveyard-scene-and-credits (Theme song of which the trailer is a rearrangement)

http://soundcloud.com/cjmventer/cjmventer-the-abandoned-house

http://soundcloud.com/cjmventer/cjmventer-wake-up-call

http://soundcloud.com/cjmventer/cjmventer-mob-mentality

http://soundcloud.com/cjmventer/cjmventer-zombie-attack-1

http://soundcloud.com/cjmventer/cjmventer-zombie-attack-2-abandoned-house

http://soundcloud.com/cjmventer/hemogloblin-vampire-dick-im-gonna-have-a-party-in-hell-they-walk-ost (80s Zombie Punk/Metal Song)

http://soundcloud.com/cjmventer/cjmventer-happy-anniversary

Basically a lot of the music is meant to be reminiscent of 70s/80s horror music (especially Italian horror music).

I came into this thread thinking Requiem for a Dream. But I thought the opposite: don't use it. So many have used it already. There's got to be something newer, fresher, and more riveting you could use.

Of course if you wanted to go with something cheesier, and maybe a bit funnier:

I do orchestral music for games. Probably nothing that would work for what you need but you're welcome to any of it. I have lots more

Those zombie tracks posted above are awesome

How does one go about getting a gig like this? I feel like that would be up my alley.

Ha ha I even love doing 8 bit songs for games that don't exist: http://venter.bandcamp.com/track/star-gods (Star Gods! Coming Soon to NES)

I just write for indie games. All this orchestral stuff is for MERP (a lord of the rings mod for oblivion).

Unfortunately, every major studio job posting I've ever seen basically wants a programmer who can also compose. I don't really understand it because I'm not a programmer but it seems like a pretty niche field if you want to do it as a career. There definitely are job openings out there though if you're willing to move. I always wish I had gotten a CS degree :(
