Members Dr.Pain-MD
I have a humbucker sized P-90 in the neck position of my superstrat and I absolutely love it! Vintage Vibes HS-90 is what I have in there and it's amazing, highly recommended.
Members jhamnett
Not to highjack the OP's thread but do you BB fans find that they are slightly noisier and more susceptible to noise than a standard HB? I realize that they are not potted so I am sure that is why. The slight noise is a small tradeoff for that tone. Maybe slightly? Not a ton of noise for me. Members mr benn
The Z-90s are kickass pickups - I have a pair in my Tele. Clippage of the bridge into a 100w Super Lead: http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=6799185 sweet! :phil: got any more clips??
Members erksin
No love for the good old Gibson P94T? If you like the original p90 it's the same sound, but humbucker sized. I might just kind of be a gibson pickup fanboy I guess though. They just tend to work for me. I had the P-94s in my Tele previous to the Z-90s - I found them dull and fairly muddy, overwound sounding pickups. The Z-90s by contrast are very lively and articulate despite being high output. The Z-90s are cheaper too.
Members erksin
sweet! :phil: got any more clips?? Same jam session with the same set up, added a Screew Driver for the more fuzzed out part, and switch to the neck around 5:30 or so: http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=6801768 This is clean, both pickups on, into a '70s Quad Reverb (pedal demo, but you'll get a good idea of their sound): http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=6433929
