Members Cassette
It all depends on the song and what the song calls for. this is how I feel on the issue as well
Members ILOVEMYFENDER
I like to be towards the front a bit, but I'd rather there be a good mix of everyone than a good mix of electric guitar.
Phil O'Keefe
I think the musical genre is really important here. Some need more guitar than others. Truth.
Members jordanjordan
Interesting. I'm in a band that is just guitar drums and bass so I think of my job as being more like trying to fill the space between the other instruments. That is part of the reason why I like to run two amps and a fair bit of delay. So I guess my answer is both and neither.
Members Bobby D
It doesn't matter if you're a "blend in" or a "stick out" kind of person - I am going to do what I think is appropriate with your levels (and that can change from moment to moment as the song progresses) in the mix anyway. BOOM.......the engineer as banhammer scenario
Members Frankenstrat86
On topic: I'm the lead guitar player in my band, so I have to use a good volume boost for solos and stuff. But I blend during verses to not get in the way of the singing. A good guitar player must know how to mix himself, sort of, be loud when you have to be heard, blend in when it's someone else's turn to lead. +
Members Jules-RM
I constantly have to fight to be heard over my bass player. True story.
