Tonal differences between a Jaguar and a Jazzmaster?

The scale length is different, too.

As far as their difference in sound, I once heard someone say something like, "It's weird that the Jazzmaster and Jaguar look almost the same, because they sound almost completely different; the Jazzmaster is one of the darkest sounding guitars Fender has made, and the Jaguar is one of the brightest."

Jags are bright. I use flatwounds on mine to tame it. Very "slicing" tone is how I put it....very snappy, short sustain, very jangly.

Jazzmasters I think are CLOSER to Strats, but not like them really. More "chimey" with that bell like tone & all. & it feels differently since it has a Strat scale length & the Jag is a short scale.
