Members DannyDedalo
I can have a good deal in these 2x12 amps, which one would you choose for a indie/postrockish band? think clean/semiclean sounds with abuse of delay and reverb. Members spoonie g
taste is subjective, but in my experience, the classic platform is more vox-y than the hot rod and therefore plays along less well with pedlols.
Members evets618
Which do you prefer? Fender Blackface (6L6) or Vox AC-30 (EL-84)?, 6L6 amps have higher highs and lower lows, EL-84 amps have more mids with less emphasis on lows and glassy highs, and generally breakup sooner and have a bit lower output power, so you can crank them a bit easier (so don't scrimp on the speakers!). Members CodeMonk
I like the clean sound of the Devilles (a friend of mine has 2 of the 4x10 models). But IMO, it needs pedals for dirt. I didn't like its OD sound. It took pedals well.
Members sleewell
my bandmate just got a peavey classic 50 410. amazing amp. its not vox like at all. perfect pedal platform with real nice on board reverb. loud as {censored} too
Members Loobs
Classic 50 is a better amp.
Members echodeluxe
honestly, both amps would be perfect for what youre describing. as far as build quality and reliability, classic 50 all the way. that thing is a {censored}ing TANK all while sounding awesome and looking classy. i wish i liked the classic 30. i feel like it would be a smaller classic 50 but it really sounds like {censored} compared. but at the moment the 50 is too much power (and too big) so i begrudgingly sold it. Members Old Fart Rocker
I've been using using a Classic 50 2x12 for a long time and it takes any pedal I throw at it. And like Echo said, it's built like a tank. Mine looks like it's been to war and back and still works and sounds great.
