It's been awhile since I tried, but it worked with my HOG just using a converter. Can't remember if it was mono or stereo, if it mattered what mode the FX-17 was in, or if it mattered whether or not it had stuff plugged in. I think I had it still passing signal. Maybe it won't power on without a plug in the input jack so you might need a dummy. EDIT: 1/8" to 1/4" stereo converter. Works regardless of mode or whether you have it on or off. You might need to dummy plug the input for the FX-17 to have power, I'm not sure, didn't want to take my FX-17 off the board to test it.
