Members ant
My first electric was a real Gibson Explorer. Back in '85, Guitar Center in San Jose had a bunch of Gibson factory second Vs and Explorers and sold them for $300. I wish I had kept it.

Unless it's a custom, in these years you could choose between several options including the schaller. I personally love floyds but I'm not a kahler fan

Members Joeking
I'm soon gonna buy a new guitar in the good ol' Explorer shape... But i have hit a dilemma... Do i get a Standard Gibson Explorer for
Members Terrorizer
It would'nt be fair for me to answer but I will anyway.I dont like Dean guitars. Some like'm but I dont. The Gibson will be of better quallity but worth your hard earned cash is up to you.Go see and play both, then decide for yourself.Gibson ;)
Members Armitage
I'd take a USA Dean over a USA Gibson any day, and I've got a bunch of both. But to compare an import line to a USA guitar isn't fair.
Members Joeking
Aha, I see! I think i will go for the Gibson. I've already got a Standard SG, and its great! I know the Gibson quality! Then then again, I dont know the Dean quality. I want tone, so the Gibson'll be better in that department cos its a USA guitar surely? I'll play em both of course... Members willy22
I just got a Hamer Explorer Standard the other day. It's black w/ a white pickguard. It was normally $899, but I got it for $300 because of a chip about the size of a quarter on the upper wing. Whatever man, war scars! I look so metal now! I gotta replace the Duncan Designs though. I love the JB and 59 combination. Pretty sure I'll go with the 59 in the neck, but I wanna try something different in the bridge. I like the Screamin' Demon but I'm curious about the Duncan Custom. BTW, I'm a passive guy, so EMG's are outta the question. Any suggestions? Thanks.
