Just kidding, how's college treating you? Haha! It's going well I suppose. The two kids who live across the hall from me both just started learning guitar, so I'm teaching them some stuff and getting them into metal. Brings back memories of when I first started playing and my friends all taught me riffs and techniques. Fun times.

Members '63-Strat
Well...I've only actually owned five amps I guess, does that get you kicked of here or something? I've played tons more, and been in bands with lots of different amps etc. but still only owned 5. The 4 if you consider the XTC is really just one amp, I had the 101b and then got the Classic "mod" which is the same as a stock Classic.1. Bogner XTC Classic2. Bogner XTC 101b3. Mesa Heartbreaker4. Members branjispad
can you tell me the differences in the sound of the 101b and classic? i dont understand the term open distortion. they say less compressed but the x already seems kind of raw with the high mids through v30s

The XTC 101b does seem very compressed to me, and I wouldn't describe it as raw. The classic is more open and less compressed, slightly more aggressive and vintage sounding. Trying it out is your best bet. I MUCH prefer the classic, and I've owned both.

Members shippy
First time posting on the boards. Couldn't resist this one even though few will probably make it this far into the thread... 1) Marshall AVT50 1X12 2) Crate GFX65 (unreliable crap, half ass decent distortion) 3) Peavey Special 212 (harsh dry sounding crap) 4) Peavey Bandit (very generic) 5) Fender Champion 110 (horrible) I can see that my list probably won't be taken very seriously. A lot of people rag on the AVT series but I really like this amp. I think my USA Wolfgang Special helps though. It sounds wicked though nearly anything. Of course you can see that I've never owned a full tube setup and most of the amps I've owned are low to mid range SS deals.

The best amp I've ever played myself was the Mesa F-50, but if I was ever going to give and A+ to something I've heard, it would have to be Joey Santiago's cranked JCM 800 during a Pixies concert I saw a while ago. When he got on stage he just strummed a huge open G and it was the greatest sound I ever heard.
