I suppose marshall cabinets are closed back............. right ?

Are all VOX amps closed back ?

Then why are you telling us? Call up Mesa Boogie, Avatar, Bogner, Marshall, etc, and tell them they don't know what they're doing.

Yeah, I screwed it up in my first post,

Anyway, I was never happy with any
amps till I discovered closed backs

I can see the ventilation issue..

I guess I mostly wondered if other
folks prefer closed backs..........

I'm all doped up today.........

kneck injury at work.........

I usually type better than this

I like the semi-elongated oval opening on Avatar cabs. It really lets sound get out of the cab and spead around the room. I have noticed that some speakers in an open baked cab can be alot brighter. Curently I'm using an old 1960a with greenbacks and it sounds damned good for a closed back cab.

I have a Roadking 2x12 and love it as well.

I also have a standard Recto 2x12 cab and performed an A/B test and couldn't believe the difference when switching back and forth between them.

The standard Recto 2x12 was darker and more boomier sounding while the Roadking 2x12 was brighter and more complex sounding, but still had plenty of thump for heavier music IMO.

Clean tones were no contest, Roadking cab all the way.

Hey, you know you can go back and edit the original post, right? It'd save you the trouble of having to see a hundred posts disagreeing with you, when they actually agree with you! ;)

To me, closed back sounds better too. But, open back has its place; it's a looser sound that works for some things.
