Members jskpongoui
Hi all! Haven't posted here in a while... but anyways Holidays are coming up, so I was wondering any cheap pieces of fun gear that can make a simple fun rig? So far I have : SH201SP404Kaossilator and my computer is not working (still), as far as audio is concerned... Anything cheap out there that will help me record and sequence stuff? (hardware) and anything else that will give me cool sounds for cheap... I was looking at the electribes, and the wavestation ... Thanks! (I'm making music like animal collective and boards of canada)
Members soundxplorer
I was looking at the electribes Excellent bang for the buck.ES-1 and ER-1 are my favorites.I actually like the original ones because the knobs turn easier - great for tweaking on the fly. The mkII versions add maybe one or two features per model.
Members soundxplorer
Hi all!and my computer is not working (still), as far as audio is concerned... I'll post the fix again. It really is pretty simple to install XP on these new machines. Shut down completely. Boot while holding F2 to go into the BIOS. Look for the Hard Drives/Storage option. You want to switch the SATA Operation mode. It will be in AHCI. Set it to Legacy instead. ATA will probably work too. Reboot from the XP install disc and everything will work fine. Members angstwulf
+1 on the SP-404. If you can live with the one track sequencer. It otherwise has a Swiss Army knife appeal to it: drum machine/sampler/effects box/digital recorder/pretty blue nite lite... Nintendo DS-10? I called dell up and they told me my machine will never run anything but MCE, because all the parts in it are made for MCE. Sequel 2 isn't working with it, won't even start up... Members angstwulf
I already have the sp404 Oh, yeah. Derrr... But still, it's a fun lil' thang. The Mini-KP pairs up well with the Kaossilator. And have you ever thought about a mini recorder? My Zoom H4 gets used a lot, both as a field recorder and as a four-track. I like it as a sketchpad much more than my computer, and that's even when the computer is working well.

Yeah, I have considered a recorder of some sort... but I'm not sure how many tracks I'd need because I jam with my friends a lot so I'd like more tracks... Members obscurity
I called dell up and they told me my machine will never run anything but MCE, because all the parts in it are made for MCE. Well then Dell are flat out lying to you.
Members Metrosonus
the hardware may be optimized for MCE, but it's really just a huge front end for media player. I know installs can be dell specific, meaning the disc is tied to the hardware and doesn't require an activation, but I can't see dell going that far to tie a particular PC to MCE.. you must not be doing something right if it won't take anything other than MCE. Have you tried regular XP?
Members jskpongoui
trut. just use XP I can't even reformat, it crashes (blue screens) every time.
