Well all the little kids in GC tend to disagree, I always hear a god damn COB riff when i walk in there.

Also you cant judge the guy based on one peice of {censored} instructional video, you probably havent even listened to all of his albums :D

Its like watching a Zakk wylde instructional video, all he does is wank pentatonics to the max and it sounds like ass :thu:

I think Liaho's very good..he writes awesome riffs (or used to, COB doesn't do it much for me anymore) and he friggin' ripps

sometimes he's a bit too much with the whammy stuff and I DO hate his tone....

but he's right about newer dream theater...they do things because they CAN not because it sounds good or makes any sense....

I can't stand that band anymore...

The magazine also referred to Dream Theater as Laiho's "favorite whipping boys." In January 2006 issue of the same magazine, reader Brad Bailey asked "Why did you make those lame comments about Dream Theater in GW? You're a fine player, but comments like those just make people lose respect for you. Did you know it caused a big stir?" to which Laiho responded "{censored}. Well, apparently it did. First of all, I think it's really funny that people trash bands and musicians every day on the internet, and nobody gives a {censored}. But once you say something like that- which wasn't even too bad- in a magazine, all of a sudden you're the biggest dick on the earth. But truthfully, I don't know why I said that. I was having a bad day or something. Obviously, John Petrucci is a better player then I am, and it's not my place to talk {censored} about him."

Who's this goon that criticizes Petrucci!

I find him very ghey!!!

he didnt say anything about petruccis ability, if anything he complimented it twice. but I agree, I think DT is lame, its not entertaining to an ass load of people. deal with it.

OMG!!!!!111! not our beloved JP!!!
JP is, if not, the most overrated wanker to ever walk this earth. Im {censored}ing sick of his obsessive fans holding him up like the chirst of guitar playing. "jp is way faster than ____" and {censored} like that is all I constantly hear from those people. plus his guitar is {censored}ing ugly as {censored}.

Alexi is a good guitarist and one of the better to arrive in the past 5-6 years or so. But he is not that Great. He has skills but has a weird vibe to his playing. Not really sloppy but thin sounding and yeah him and the Hampster have the same vibrato apparently. He's essentially the 00's Kirk Hammet IMO. Not bad but not Great either. I think he needs to get rid of those Hz's. No matter how you treat them they sound lacking to my ear.

Gary Moore, Dave Meniketti, Steve Lukather, Dann Huff and John Sykes do lead guitars and lead vocals too, even Zakk Wylde!
Yep it's difficult to do both I acknowledge that!

I liked early CoB albums a LOT. I saw them live, you can't possibly think that this guy is a mediocre guitar player. The guys is absolutely amazing and wrote some of the best riffs in metal. I don't like anything after Hatebreeder but that doesn't change the fact that during his career he wrote and played some of the most impressive music.

btw whats gala?

Gala means glamour in Italian but generally it is used in Europe about glamourous lifestyle, that's why I edited my previous post! I agree with you about Blink 182 guy and now you can see my point! The guys in magazines and marketing departments of guitar companies make us idolize the wrong people. Have u seen Dann Huff having a magazine column or Custom Guitar line.
Sure Alexi is better than this B182 guy but I said that I can't understand the hype about him, based on the fact that I saw that video and the comments on DT

Unfortunately today in the watered down piss called the Recording industry we see many very undeserving sig's,accolades, etc... out there. Its commercialism gone wild IMO. Its proven that terrible to medicore players/bands make it more with each passing day.

Alexi was a better player earlier though I will admit but just like Hammet he gets lazy or looses fire with each newer offering. IMO. Of the new players I take Loomis over most of them. But none of the newer metal 00's players have proven Greatness yet IMO.
