Members TheRedAndBlack
Perhaps some of you could recommend me some stuff. I'm in the mood for some sad metal. I know that sounds stupid as hell, but eh, you get what I mean. Don't get me wrong, I love Dragonforce, but the vocalist sounds way too happy. Preferably no growling or screaming. Members Cougar Hunter
I'm not sure it's metal, but most Deftones strikes me as sad. Digital Bath, Change in the House of Flies. pretty much anything on White Pony and half of the stuff on Around the Fur.

Members Cougar Hunter
I'm not sure if it's too intense for you, but I've NEVER heard a happy Amon Amarth song, ever. you might try neurosis too.

Members mhenson42
+1 for Amon Amarth. Viking metal doom and gloom. Every song seems to be about sword fights, battles, etc. Growling vocals though.
Members Phyrexian
NEUROSIS It's the sound of the apocalypse... Really. Its soooooooooooooooooooo sad and depressing. Also there's quite some sadness in Crowbars music. You can't go wrong with song titles like "I have failed"...

Members DeathMonkey
+1 for MDB Tristania Tvangeste Sirenia Nightwish Old Man Gloom Opeth early Hopesfall (not metal, but good moody stuff) I find Isis, Pelican, TUSK, 5ive, Explosions in the Sky and Red Sparrowes to be kinda sad too. Of course, if you really want to get into a delightfully dark place where not even hope can survive, load up on Laibach and The Swans.

Members Exocaster
Originally posted by exafro The name sounds more emo than metal, are there any other bands that they sound like? There's not really much else they sound like. I've tried and failed to find something similar. Daylight Dies, maybe; Anathema and Katatonia have a similar vibe sometimes but aren't really similar musically. Same deal with Opeth. They have bugger all to do with emo, though. They play mostly mid-tempo to slow riff driven metal with a strong "classical" vibe. Very, very dark band.
