Members Crazyfoo
What are you guys using for your monitor system while playing live/rehearsing? When I'm at home 'playing with myself' (no wise cracks) I'll normally bring a keyboard to my desk where I have my computer, and I'll place another keyboard on a rolling stand I have. 2 in front of me at one time while I'm writing / learning parts or recording is enough. I'll plug everything into the Edirol FA-101, and the sound comes out the Mackie HR824MK2. For live application I purchased a 16 channel PA system from Carvin thinking I could kill 2 birds with one stone. (get a decent monitor system for myself, and also have a PA system for rehearsing and small venues. Here's the thing, the PA is decent for vocals, but I'm not 'loving' the sound of my keyboards coming through the speakers. I've always been a fan of big, full and robust sound, and although the sound is 'adaquate', it leaves a little something to be desired. Soooo, I was browsing around and saw this company called QSC, and their stuff looks pretty decent, and I was wondering if any of you guys use their speakers, and if so, what do you use, and do you recommend it? Currently, for rehearsals my set-up looks like this: so I could take the PA, and just use it exclusively for vocals, and get a different option for keyboard monitors. They have a 8/10/ and 12 inch powered speakers, and 2 of these looks like they would be ideal. My other thought was just upgrading the speakers of the PA system, and maybe replacing them with JBL's or something a little beefier. What are you guys using for your applications, and would you change anything or have any wish-list based on what you know now that you didn't know before? Here's the PA I got for my monitoring system, and like I said, maybe just getting better speakers would solve the problem, but those QSC speakers look pretty sweet. http://www.carvinguitars.com/products/single.php?product=C1648P-LM153&cid=103 Thanks
Members mate_stubb
That line of speakers is rapidly becoming the onstage monitors of choice for a bunch of people. They come highly recommended.
Members GigMan
I bought a pair of QSC K12's a few months ago - LOVE 'EM! They are powerful, clear and just sound fantastic for keys. Vocals too - I use them sometimes as Mains for a PA (for vocals, keys, mic'd electric & acoustic guitars, program music) and sometimes as a killer stereo keyboard rig - sitting them on the floor, flanking my kbyd. stand - or if it's an outdoor gig, putting 'em up on spkr. stands... - - match 'em up w/a small mixer and you're good to go! Members VanZea
I have 2 K10's. They're perfect. Very loud, good sounding, light. At this moment the best you can buy for keyboards I think.
Members Nillerbabs
Chiming in with the others, I use a single K12 (couldn't afford two at the moment), and it sounds magnificent. Can't be recommended enough.
