Members freakk guitarist
i have some semi cheap component speakers in the doors. and a 10 inch infinity sub in the trunk of my 99passat. powered by some random ass brand 1000w amp. all coming from a premier headunit now the issue is... i know i have somewhat crappy speakers..but seriously everything lacks punch! especially the sub. it just kinda hums. it sounds pretty decent, but has no punch. what could be causing this? small sub enclosure? crappy amp? Members mddawso
has it become crappy, or always crappy? If it became crappy it usually means someone was playing with the radio settings, reset it and everything's good. Sub in a ported box vs. sealed will add more punch. need more info than anyone can offer you here, just take it some where ask them why it sucks then buy the stuff off ebay. Members tlbonehead
Have you tried using a storage cap?
Members mddawso
Have you tried using a storage cap? those are borderline useless. How strong is your alternator? because with a thousand watt amp shouldn't be run on an alternator less than 70 amps. Not that that would affect "impact" but it would be a consideration when looking at caps.

Members STFU NOOB!
maybe, just maybe, It sounds like crap because you are using crap gear... Just a shot in the dark. Maybe you should replace your crappy noname 1000watt amp with a crappy 2000watt noname amp, that should solve everything.
