Members JoshuaLogan
I'm thinking of having a 7 string tuned to C# standard with an added F# up on the highest string (2 notes higher than Standard E), and I'm used to a 9 gauge string for standard E, so I would need a 7 or an 8 for it in F#. Don't bother criticizing it or anything, because I'm already kinda getting stuck on the idea lol. I love C#, but I think it's slightly low for some things, so having that added high string would give me a lot of range. I'd use 11-54 for the bottom 6 strings and buy singles of 7 or 8 for the top. Before I get a 7 and do this though, I need to make sure I can easily get ahold of .07 or .08 gauge strings.

Members tlbonehead
MF shows 008s in single gauges in Daddarios and Ernies. No 007s.
Members JoshuaLogan
Which do you think I'd need for F# (2 notes higher). Do you think an 8 would give me the same feel as a 9 in E? or would it be a little too stiff?
Members TomCTC
that small of strings is pretty uncommon, man... High G on 12 string guitars are usually .008s. Not too uncommon.
