I dig my Ampeg VT-22.

 

I hardly play it anymore, but when I did all i ever played was post-rock or shoe-gaze stuff.

just a clean sparkly guitar sound and then a reverb, a delay and some fuzzy/overdriving sound kinda little big muff or RAT.

 

That'll do the job and use a single coil although that's not a must. Clean bits are often played through the neck pickup or the middle switch position.

I personally like that post rock tone that's a bit of a dirty clean with boost pedals to bring it up to balls out distortion.

hardly. i wouldn't recommend a matchless dc30 or a hotcat for some guy wanting to play metal.

 

for anything from clean to mid-gain the amps i listed are what i would have, in a perfect world.
