Members Jopop
Funny how you described your SLO just the way a 5150 is Yeah, and they sound noooooothing (ghost voice!) alike..
Members evilsam
OK...Randall MTS is not only what you want...it is what you need. I use two RM100 heads in stereo and mix modules. Blackface for clean in both heads, XTC and ULTRAXL (gain down) for rhythm, SL+ and ULTRAXL (gain up) for leads. The midi switching allows you me to change my G-major (in parallel loop) and compressor/gate (in series loop) as well as the channels with a click of the 4-button footswitch that comes with it. We play every weekend and i can bias my tubes all by myself in under 5 minutes to suit each club (power levels are always different). They really are the most flexible tube amps there are and it is a revolutionary technology. Play them proud and play them loud. Randall Rocks!!! Members thenakedarab
Right now I have a SLO, and I'm not 100% happy with it. I have had trouble getting the loop to work with my pedals, and it doesn't really have the "tone in my head" so to speak. It has no chunk, it's pretty woofy on the the palm mutes, and is a *little* fizzy. I hate fizz. And the clean SUCKS. It is however, a fantastically awesome lead amp. My singer and I can be playing with the volume on our amps evenly matched, and when I go to a solo, it cuts right through, it's awesome. So, I think I will buy another amp, see if I like it better, and then either sell it or the SLO, and so on. So here is what I need in a new amp. 3 channels. I really miss having a third channel. It needs to get pretty heavy. Not metal or anything, take a listen to the two heavier songs in my sig for an idea. that's about as heavy as it needs to get, but a little more is ok too. I would like it to have midi. I was thinking about getting a G-System, and I would like to do the channel switching through. I need it to have a great clean channel. I also have a Triamp MKII, and I like the clean on it. Take a listen to my band in sig for an idea of what we play. I lobe the tones from Alter Bridge, Dark New Day, Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, etc. Watcha got??? Well, the SLO is essentially one channel, and personally I think that everything you just listed as wanting you can find in a Tremoverb. Plenty of chunk, gorgeous cleans, you can still use the G-System to switch channels, and with the boost from the G-System and the EQ possibilities you really end up having way more than 2 channels anyways. I don't think you could do much better for the tones you listed.

Members flaming turd
I used to have a tremoverb combo. I really liked it. Thought abut getting another one. I do have a Dual Recto, blackface #791. But I think something is wrong with it.
Members Jopop
Tremoverbs sound really good to me for some reason.. but I'm not too keen on the dual rec's etc.
Members flaming turd
Yeah, there's definitely a difference. What I really need as a third channel is a medium gain setting. Any way to do that with the G-System?

Members Phade21
XTC. i had an SLO and i got rid of it because my XTC blew it out of the water, for what i needed it for. +1...although I also love my SLO ...they compliment each other quite well...the XTC doesn't have the bite that my SLO does, but it is more versatile (3 great channels) and I use a boost to tighten it up a little more and fatten it up even more (not that it needs to be any fatter)
