Members fmw
I'm curious to know why guitar amps never have high frequency drivers. Many acoustic amps have them. Even some bass amps have them. Why not guitar amps?
Members Alchemist
I dont think I've ever played an amp and thought it need more high end (if EQ'd properly), if anything you usually have to tame it otherwise it sounds shrill..... guitars are more about the mids, thats how amps and speakers are designed...... Members Bumble
I would think the reason is that the frequency range handled by tweeters is undesired and indeed degrading for guitar sounds, especially distorted ones.
Members Smachimo the T
ever played a through a bass cab with a tweeter sounds like {censored}.

Members TheAmazingBlob
Try playing a distorted guitar through a full-range setup. Sounds like ass.
Members Exocaster
Short answer: look at the frequency response curves of guitar speakers. They're very good at reproducing frequencies guitars actually put out. (10khz, for example, is not one of them.) There's no benefit to adding more extreme high end. Shorter answer: tweeters sound like rank ass for guitar.
Members petejt
It would shriek way too much. Very harsh. Guitars, even very trebly-sounding ones, don't really produce frequencies that high. They're a midrange instrument, so guitar speakers are designed to amplify those frequencies. And by midrange I don't mean the 'guitar' type 'middy honk' midrange, I mean from 200Hz to 6kHz.
