Members mparsons
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/GallienKrueger-Backline-600-Bass-Head?sku=482534 I was just as skeptical as you. It doesn't sound amazing, but it pulls off the super heavy, saturated, scooped/esque tone off VERY well. Since its a bass amp, it has a TON of bottom end, and its pretty tight as well. I've been jamming on it through a Behringer 410 and it actually sounds GOOD for brutal death metal. Reminds me a lot of the early 90's death metal sound. I might have clips tomorrow, too. Members petejt
Record and post some Cannibal Corpse riffs please .I'd like to see how that amp goes with those riffs. Seems like it'd work well.

Members petejt
Ok then, if you can please play some songs from Metallica's ...And Justice For All. The early 90s brutal death metal tone is pretty much the evolution (and bastardisation) of the rhythm guitar tone from that very album.

Members mparsons
Here's a clip: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=442291&songID=6659680 Guitar was a Schecter Omen 6 with stock pickups. The cab was a Behringer 410 bass cab. With a good cab and EMGs this would rule!
Members Smachimo the T
lacked something.. I have a friend with one of these amps, they can definitely provide gritty bass tones, never tried a guitar with it though.
Members mparsons
What it lacks I'm sure V30s and EMGs will make up. I want to try this out on my cab sometime.

Members Smachimo the T
would this amp perhaps KILL v30's? y`know, since it's a bass amp and all.
Members mparsons
It might. But with the bass knob all the way down we should be fine.
Members EdMan57
Going the bass amp route has seemed to work out well for Fender Bassman and Marshall Super Bass users...so who knows. Ed
Members scottcrud
Is that the GK's built in gain or are you using a od pedal? And yea, it does sound like early Obituary which ain't unnecessarily a bad thing.
Members mparsons
That's all amp. It has quite a bit of gain on tap.

Then again I'm not really into the scooped mids super gainy {censored}.
