Members zosoKing5
I have a fender blues jr, but its the muddiest thing ive ever heard and pretty low gain. Im thinking i could shell out to get the thing modded and get a new speaker, but its never going to sound like a marshall. i want a higher gain marshall that will get me those signature tones- i still dont know which marshall amp will get me solid tones at a civil volume... right now im thinking -1987X jose modded w/ attenuator or mastervolume -1974x bluesbreaker w/ some sort of o/d pedal to use as boost. (both would be clones built by me) any thoughts? im coming from a 1991 fender princeton chorus. great cleans and chorus, absolute crap grainy O/D. Im looking for G'N'R, ACDC, Blizzard of ozz era ozzy, EVH, type gain at the most, no death metal or screamo, but i like throwing some john mayer, clapton, and cake type stuff in the mix once in a while too. Help. :/ before you say search n00b- i did search, which is how i narrowed down my choices to what is above.

Members zosoKing5
its a great amp but its stupid loud. what is it, like 100watt? the 1987x is a 50watt, and the 1974x BB is 18watt, and both of those are going to be loud as it is. btw your band sounds pretty good. reminds me of a harder version of scary kids. Members guitarbilly74
I-1987X jose modded w/ attenuator or mastervolume ding!!! winner! if you can build one by all means do it. If not a DSL would fit the bill just fine, they sound really good IMHO, especially if you boost the green channel.
