Members SG-DAWG
Whats the difference? They are the same. They changed the name to 6505 when the Van Halen deal went sour and/or the contract ended.
Members Skunx
The 6505 is +1355 more brutal than the 5150 so is +1355 more better!
Members GibsonGuy07
Honestly, I don't know anything about them except that I played through a 6505+ and it was a total {censored} box. What makes the 6505"+"? Are the all +'s? Do they all sound like that?

Members nwright
2 channels with seperate EQ's ( the regular 6505 has a shared EQ between the channels), and the voicing is slightly different.
Members SG-DAWG
What sets it apart from a 6505...or a 5150II from a 5150?The +, II have seperate eqs for both channels,a better clean, footswitchable crunch, and a slighty different tone on the heavy. That said i like th original better. Members C.B.O.
Either or. The reason I ask is because I can get a regular 5150 for $500 or I can get a 6505 for $600.
Members shotgunsjustice
Extra pre-amp tube in the 5150II and 6505+, adds a little more pre-amp gain and all that no-sense. Only major difference build wise as well.

Only major difference build wise as well. The extra tube isnt for another gain stage.I think its for the switchable crunch.I could be wrong though. Its happened before. Members thinkpad20
I played through a 6505+ and it was a total {censored} box. Sounds like user error to me... those are some awesome amps, at least for metal/hard rock... or maybe the one you played was faulty/bad tubes/??? but it's a matter of taste I suppose... Members Bryan316
BASS. Heh heh heh. As for my guitarists, one's a TriAxis and SimulClass 2:90 rig, the other's a Hughes & Kettner TriAmp Mk II. The H&K TriAmp replaced the 5150. My lead guitarist has never been happier, and no one who's heard him play can deny his tone is leaps and bounds better than his 5150, even AFTER getting it hot-rod modified to clean up the horrid cleans and trying to get rid of that buzzy buzz. Together, the TriAxis and TriAmp are a flawless, cooperative match.
Members sufidancer
5150 has teh br00talz. can not comment on 6505 other than it is not endorsed by Edward.
Members Cap'n Ahole
the 5150II/6505+ is a little tighter in the low end & has that switchable clean-crunch, making it like 3 ch's. 5150/6505 series, as was said, same amp aside from the name.
