Members hecticone
Thats why I use a wireless so I can get off the stage completely. Go back by the board listen, tweak the amp if necessary and then set the main mix. After that I go back up and get the monitor mix right.

Members andyhumb
I remember many years ago- more than I want to remember - I got interested in high-end home stereo audio equipment (not Best Buy level stereo equipment) but the really, really expensive stuff thats only carried in high end stores. Before that, all I was exposed to was lower level Pioneer, etc level home audio stuff available at appliance stores. When I went to the high end snobby stores - the guys would always say "Set everything at 12:00 noon first, then make small adjustments". They would laugh and say every dumb young kid likes to immediately set the bass at max and the treble at almost max to get the "boom chick" sound out of the speakers. After awhile, I totally saw the point. I used that same concept that I learned at the high end audio stores with guitar amp equipment and it usually works quite well.
