My best friend really liked 808s And Heartbreak, and she's into '80s new wave and goth stuff. I thought it was a pretty decent record, from what I've heard. I don't get much of any american stuff. it's actually really nice. It's not a rap record at all. It's some flavor of synthpop + R&B. It's very... "retro" sounding. It's obviously a modern record trying to emulate an '80s record to my ears; it's full of synth sounds straight out of 20-some years ago. I'm not sure if it's something I'd listen to on my own time, but it wasn't at all bad from what I heard. And I for one don't think you're missing much by not getting American Top 40 radio!
