Members Scott Fonseca
I'm pleased mac can't claim but 15% of the market share. For this very reason, virus protection isn't needed. Not even a hiccup so far on my macbook after 2 years. I dunno, maybe I'm just lucky. I can't say the same for our 1 year old pc. Honestly, the wife and I are ready to just throw it in the trash....And no, I don't surf porn on it, just pay bills.Go ahead and tell me I'm a stuck up mac user, payed too much for it, etc. You did, because OSX should be free. Mac OSes are rock solid, because they have a UNIX base. If you strip away the dumbed downess of a Mac OS, you have Linux. Ubuntu = Mac OSX. That is why you shouldn't buy an Apple(well, one of the reasons). They are selling you a free product. I mean, I could give you Ubuntu that looks and acts exactly as OSX would. So yes, you paid way too much for it.

I built a faster PC for 600 in parts+OS compared to the 2G's I spent on the iMac.AT my former workplace we used both systems, and both had similar failure rates. I can't put one above another, but I will say if you build your own PC without all the BS extras like Dell, Compaq, HP, you get better results. Members thinkpad20
the marketApple is spending a fortune in advertisements and still can't claim 15% of the market share in computers. Some boost when going Intel. Apple just posted a rather large profit... their market share increases steadily each year (hard to chip away at windoze), and a lot of their users are college students and younger people which means that those numbers are just going to keep going up as the younger people get older and keep using Macs. Not to mention that they are the 800 lb Gorilla in the mp3 player market, as well as having the most successful smartphone out there. Apple is doing quite well. Yep! pure genius!I don't care, I own both like I already said. When my iMac comes back from repair, I'll fire it up again College boys like the Mac's until they have start repaying loans! Members thinkpad20
College boys like the Mac's until they have start repaying loans! That's what an old prof friend of mine said! Plus the pRon surfing Hmm, maybe. I think that's a rather unfounded assertion. Once someone gets used to an operating system, especially one as user-friendly as Mac (and the whole mac culture that comes with it) it's quite likely that they'll stay with it. It's not like they're going to sell their current computers to finance their loans... Anyway no matter how you slice it, Mac is doing very well money-wise; they're great marketers not only because of their image but because they are embedding themselves in pop culture, targeting younger demographics, etc.

Members John S. Shinal
I'm a PC and I contain exactly the same processor, chipset and video card as a Mac. I can run Windows XP, Vista, Mac OSX, or Linux. I'm a PC and people think that commercials they see contain facts. I'm a PC...and unless you are friends with the penguin, you are being exploited. If you're cool with that, then don't sweat it. Give your money to The Man or to The Other Man, it doesn't matter. If you speak penguin-ese, then people think you're weird, but they pay you good money for being that way. That's cool too.I'm a PC, and no commercial you've seen matters a damn bit. Members HKSblade1
It was a professors joke. You know what a great sense o humor they have! I'm glad to see Apple pick it up. I think they will have some concern if Win 7 is as good as everyone says it is. Windows issues with hardware is and always has been drivers for a while. Competition is always a good thing! Apple needs a PC that competes price wise with Win machines but also need to improvise around their gatt damn proprietary bs! Board for my iMac is $420 and an Asus of 10x the capacity is half that. That is one of Mac's problems. When I serviced SONY cons electronics like thier TV's, damn oem transistors, thyristors, IC's were 5x the cost of similar television product replacement parts including Mitsubishi. The same exact mcu in a Sony was about $130 dealer cost, and a Mits was about $22. Flybacks and HV units were ridiculously higher from Sony. Don't ever have to order a mounted board from Sony! May as well buy a new unit. When you can build a monster PC with newegg parts and use it only for say audio, you have a killer machine at 1/5 the cost of an iMac with comparable spec. Plus, you have thousands more software products available for the Win platform. Either way, you can great machines or duds..... depends on your unlucky lottery ticket as you know from other electronic high priced devices! Members Shiny_Surface
Apple should just sell their OS separately and get out of the hardware side altogether, since it's just overpriced pc parts anyway.
