Members Stackabones
What has influenced you as a songwriter in the past ... or since the last FIT? * This is related to my recent FIT on wabi-sabi. Delight in Disorder Robert Herrick A SWEET disorder in the dress Kindles in clothes a wantonness : A lawn about the shoulders thrown Into a fine distraction : An erring lace which here and there Enthrals the crimson stomacher : A cuff neglectful, and thereby Ribbons to flow confusedly : A winning wave (deserving note) In the tempestuous petticoat : A careless shoe-string, in whose tie I see a wild civility : Do more bewitch me than when art Is too precise in every part. Easily a manifesto for how I approach gigging, improvisation, songwriting, recording, and to a certain degree what I seek out when listening to music. Moderators Lee Knight Posted June 4, 2010 Moderators Share Posted June 4, 2010 wabi sabi kemosabe I'm going to go with this song that's been going through my head for a couple years... literally, for a couple years. Tim Finn is a nut. He appears a prime candidate for mental illness or suicide. His brother Neil seems to channel the reckless insanity to some higher purpose. Together they create something sad, deep, transcendent and hard for me to ignore...
Members Oswlek
This is the song that got me into the Finn Brothers For my money, one of the most gorgeous songs ever written. Though I just stumbled on Neil and Tim recently, 4-5 years ago, their influences are all over my music.

Members Etienne Rambert
I can't listen to the first FB cut in my country. The second one was passionate & sad. But it seemed to meander around for my taste. I got on a Spirit kick today. Bs7qUw3cuYc 0xSbsKHfMFE Great back-up vocals on both cuts. Great counterpoint on "Dark-Eyed Woman". Moderators Lee Knight Posted June 4, 2010 Moderators Share Posted June 4, 2010 I'm digging the Spirit. I especially like the Dark Eyed Woman. OK... going to double dip. Here's another song that's been coming back to me. I loved this the first time I heard it. ON THE RADIO!!!! On re-inspection, the lyrics don't quite hold up but... hey, it's a great tune and production. A great, bold in its simplicity... record.
