Where did you get the individual stems for each song?

I, ahem, found the acapella version of Never Gonna Give You Up on the interwebs - acapella versions of dance, r'n'b & hiphop tracks are quite common, as they're used for doing remixes.

As far as the DT stuff goes, I used the stems from the Producer's Edition disc from the limited box-set version of the new Dream Theater album.

As far as why it works so well - both songs are nearly the same tempo and they're both in Bb minor. It's almost like Petrucci wrote Wither with RickRolling in mind.

Wow. The one with the Wither vocals over the music from Never Gonna Give You Up, with the Solo, sounds REALLY good! Like, it sounds like that's how it was recorded originally. The chorus fits very well with the music.
