Members John_McEnroe
I'm looking for an awesome small fender amp for recording and small gigs. I would never use the reverb on either amp. Which one of these two would you recommend and why?
Members MRAAJR
The PRRI has the worst sounding OD of any amp I have ever heard......ever
Members John_McEnroe
I usually play clean, so I doubt I will be cranking the amp enough to get too much OD. Is a big part of what makes the PRRI so much more expensive the reverb?
Members Joeytpg
I have a PRRI and I love it. It doesn't have a distortion channel...... now, if you're talking about powertube breakup then that's another thing.
Members tlbonehead
put me in the "anything but a Blues Jr" crowd. Do you want a Fender tone or does it have to SAY Fender on it?

For the sake of argument, he wants to sound like a fender. Please continue
Members GCDEF
I'd go with a Super Champ XD because it's cheaper, more versatile and sounds better.
Members I.P. Freeley
Spend the extra $100 and get a DRRI.
Members John_McEnroe
I had a DRRI and loved it, but it was a bit too big for me. I am moving to New York and I need something I can take in taxis/the subway relatively easily. I am basically looking for a similar sound to the DRRI but in a smaller package. Members Electrikon
Both myself and Gary Rossington appreciate the quality tone of a Fender Blues Junior.

I've been looking at the Blues Jr, but I don't have the money to get anything yet.

Members sccanj
Blues Jr all the way, it's a tricky pony amp though, it can sound awesome with the right settings.
Members guitarcapo
The PRRI has the worst sounding OD of any amp I have ever heard......ever Yea but if you Stokes mod it, toss in a 12" speaker, maybe some other slight mods, it has the best cleans of any Fender amp in my opinion. Best OD is probably a Deluxe Reverb cranked to 8 volume with a humbucker at the bridge.
Members scud133
yall are idiots the PRRI is a BAMF. especially if you kick it with a tubescreamer style pedal, look out, it's tone heaven. perfect size and volume for "recording and small gigs" and trem and reverb are incredible on it, even tough the OP says he won't use it, i bet he prob will if he has it

Members JohnPW
My Gibson Les Paul sounds awesome through my PRRI. I don't own a Blues Jr. but have played them and they do sound good. Not nearly as good as my PRRI. I think it is a great amp!
