Members Lucius
Gonna start a little home build. Picked up all the trannies (power, output, choke from a Soldano Decatone) for a good price. Figure I'd start light and do a little one channel power amp then start adding stuff. I'll design the power supply tonite. Looking pros/cons of going SS or tube for my rectifier. Also, did you use individual diodes or an all in one bridge rectifier if you went SS? Cheers, Lucius

Members Slaymoar
There are countless threads on SS vs Tube rectifier, but main concensus is that SS will sound tighter and have more clarity, tube will sag and add distortion as the output is pushed. As for the rectifier type, it really depends on the transformer. Your goal is to get between 350 and 450V filtered. Some types of transformers will require a bridge rectifier to do it, and some will do it with a full wave (center tap). For the main power supply, I would NOT use a single rectifier setup. -D
Members NixerX
You can go Tube rectified...and get one of these to try SS http://www.tubedepot.com/tdssr.html
