Members doomsdaymachine
I've got the stock Ruby's in my new 6505, and am thinking about JJ 6L6GC's.. I know the SED's are great tubes, but they're also $120 a quad.. Anybody advocates of the JJ's? They seemed to sound warmer, deeper, & tighter in the Randall RT503H I had.. Members ENdtime
In the 5150 head, I really liked the Ruby's. In the combo I liked the JJ's and Winged C's. I'd stick.with the Ruby's
Members Sordid1
Highly subjective and the 5150 is one of the few amps I think sound killer with the JJ's, but I personally like the Ruby's far better. Warmer, bigger bottom end and more musical. The JJ's have a nice punch to them and some nice grind but I like the Ruby's better.

Members Keebz
I have those Ruby tubes in my amp, I love 'em!!
Members madrigal77
Ruby's by a mile. JJ's are lifeless crap. The only reasonable use for them that I can see is if you have a really bright amp you want to tame.
Members shane159
Ruby's over the JJ's !! I have to say that I agree that the Winged C's are expensive, but I have them in my 5150 and my JCA 100h and they are well worth the money. They make the amps sound huge, like very noticeably bigger sounding. They also are the clearest sounding tube I have used in the 5150 and I have tried about every brand out there. Members LA-Ü-RA
It's subjective but I too PREFER the Ruby 6L6s in my 5150. I tried a bunch of tubes and ended up with the Ruby's. SED's are awesome but guys aren't buying them much these days due to the price hike.

Members nwright
My how times have changed. over the last few years, EVERYONE seemed to prefer JJ's. I had JJ's, Svetlana's, Sovteks and Ruby's in my 6505. They all sounded pretty similar. JJ's for aggression, Ruby's for a tad more bottom end, Svet's somewhere in the middle but not as good as the other 2, IMO. The Sovteks I didn't care for, they seemed weaker all around. Members Rampage
I've grown very fond of Ruby 6L6s and EL-34s in recent history. Good tone, good reliability and good prices.
