Popular 15 flat wound sets are: *) GHS Pat Martinos (15-52) *) La Bella Stainless Steel (15-56) So the bass E isn't enormous. The bass E on the set I use is big because that's how the nylon tape strings are. For their size they have lower tension than what you'd expect.
