Members David E H
.......a 6v6, 5y3, and two 12ax7's, but here's the thing, I don't want a tremolo stage. This is the same layout as a Vibrochamp, but without tremolo, just more gain stages.....schematic?
Members Casey4s
Then why not just build that and leave the tremolo out?
Members David E H
You mean skip the tube and just build a champ? Or remove some of the components? Sorry, I'm not very intuitive when it comes to modding.

Sorry, I'm not very intuitive when it comes to modding. Yeah I guess it is just a Champ if you do that, sorry. I looked around and haven't found a 2x12ax7 with a Single ended 6V6. have you looked here >>>---> http://schematicheaven.com/

There's no single ended 6v6's with two pre-amp tubes. edit:....oh yeah, and would it be bad for the PT if I left out a 12ax7 to build a plain old champ? would that throw off voltages for other tubes? Members excidere
There is a modded AX84 High Octane that uses two 12ax7s and one 6v6... I think it was done by Kurt Leniger.... Actually here is a page with some build pics... http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~ehn/ax84/
Members tedmich
please clarify: you have this amp and want schematic? If so a picture is INVALUABLE.... or maybe I am again confused; you would like to build an amp with these tubes?
Members David E H
I want to build an amp based on these tubes. I have an old Silvertone organ chassis set up this way. Regardless, I went ahead and built a Vibrochamp, but I can't get it working. I've checked everything over multiple times, but I still don't know what's going on. The 6v6 looks like it's running sort of hot, and it makes sparks inside of the tube and it sounds out in the speaker when I turn the volume knob. Members PaoloJM
Have you tried replacing the 6V6?Can you post a schematic, with values, of your "as built" or is it totaly identical to the Vibrochamp? What voltage measurements did you make on each terminal of the 6V6? Members mrbrown49
Sparks inside the tube? That tube may have been cooked, but also may not be the source of the problem. Better get a couple spares for trouble shooting.
Members Casey4s
I think you need to take some voltage readings at the 6V6, especially the Plate Voltage before yoiu stick another tube in there.
