Members kwakatak
I've been watching clips of "Falling Slowly" on Youtube and can't quite make out the headstock between the grainy picture quality and all the blubbering I'm doing - hey, it's a pretty song! It looks like a really beat up Takamine or Seagull, but I can't be sure. It looks like a cedar top but it's got a whole bunch of holes in it that I haven't seen on any other guitar than an Ovation. Am I far off?
Members threecar
I saw the movie last week. I think it is a Tak that had been drop kicked ONCE or twice.

Members Stackabones
Love that movie. Own it. Gonna have to watch it again. I thought it was a Tak, but I'm not sure.

Members Ohioarrow
ok, one better, from their web site: The web site is here: http://www.theframes.ie/v4/music/ ... and yea, that Tak has seen better days. Well battle scarred.
Members pipedwho
It's a Takamine. Probably an EF340 or 360.

Members T Dunn
That old beat up Tak is Glen Hansard's actual guitar. There's a cool story about how he came about that git. I don't want to mess it up as I don't have all the facts, but someone here will probably post it.
Members jd-drafter
in his own words- http://content.foxsearchlight.com/videos/node/1897 i like the movie- for it unpretentious simplicity- my favorite part would have to be the weekend in the studio- it really made you feel like you were right there... and the sound track is a great listen- plays well on a road trip or in the bedroom... 8^)
Members kwakatak
OK, well based on the headstock and split saddle design it can't be an F series. Maybe a GS330? Cool story about the guitar though.
Members simplygoodmusic
Looks nearly identical to my n-10...only differences I can spot are the rosette, the electronics, and the massive hole.
Members Stackabones
I thought I had that one, but mine's definitely not as "posh."
Members C70man
I thought I had that one, but mine's definitely not as "posh." Is that what you would call a stereo guitar? Though it has Mojo, I bet he would sound better on a Martin or Gibby.

Members spruce goose
Of course, I had to watch it. One thing I noticed was that the sound of the Tak in the beginning of the movie seemed very compressed. This was a bit odd, because he was supposedly playing outside (busking), but the sound seemed very processed. :poke: You just can't get that kind of acoustic punch without adding compression. After watching the video referenced above and recalling something about Cat/Youseff's background I'm not surprised by the similarity; there seem to be some parallels in their backgrounds. Members Michael Martin
Am I the only person who thinks Glen sound A LOT like Cat Stevens? You mean his voice? Then no. Steven/Cat/Yusuf had a distinct tone, kind of plaintive, kind of delicate, that was apparent even in his growlier moments (chorus of "Hard Headed Woman", for example). To me Glen H sounds much edgier, and less distinctive, in his default mode. You mean as songwriter? Then no there too. I'm not saying there are no similarities--I'm just saying I didn't sense any when I saw that movie. Which I loved.
