Ovation Electric screw up

I picked up an Ovation CC047 on craigslist for a steal.

Problem was the bridge was broken. Ordered a new bridge

and while I was waiting for the new one to show up I started

takeing off the old one.

 

I thought I was being real careful in watching for a pickup

but I guess not careful enough I cut through the cable

with the chisle ... should have pulled the sadle first then

I would have seen it. What I really can't tell is if there

are 2 wires or not. It alomost looks like it's just a sheiled

cable that was soldered to the pickup. Is that possible?

 

I have not been able to find much info on the Ovation

under sadle pickup. Is there any way to repair this

or am I screwed?

Yes, that is what it is. You just might be able to solder it back on - if not, you can buy replacement USTs (or as TAH says, order a new unit).

While I no longer own an Ovation guitar, and really don't like them much, they are supported by a great Customer Service department... at least in my experience. Shoot them an email with your concern.

It is not likely repairable since you severed so close to the transducer. It would be hard, or impossible, to splice
