  1. I've got an FG335. It's a very decent guitar that can hold it's own against many great guitars, including solid tops!
  2. Here's one: http://orlando.craigslist.org/msg/1061012047.html
  3. Go for the solid wood. Much better tone. Not always as simple as that. Some laminates make solid tops sound lame. Plus, solid tops generally require more care.
  4. I looked at a made in Korea Carlos locally about a week ago. Original owner, guitar looked just like new and asking price was only $70! Too bad the neck looked like a boomerang!
  5. The Yamaha FG232 I just picked up at a garage sale last week is 33 years old, in pristine condition, and has fantastic tone... and apparently it's a laminate! Old Yamahas can be oustanding guitars.
  6. If the guitar's health checks out, and it's been well cared for otherwise, it's easily worth the $65.
  7. Exactly the same construction materials. FG75 manufactured 68-74; FG75-1 manufactutred 74-76. Both had an MSRP of only $109.50, but generally sold for less in retail shops. If the pawn shop FG75-1 is in sound condition, then I'd buy it in a heartbeat for $60.
  8. Here's a link to glowing reviews of the FG75. Based on the reviews, I'd love to come across one of these babies. http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/product/Yamaha/FG-75/10/1
  9. Well, the FG75 and FG75-1 are vintage Yamaha guitars. They're actually very nice guitars (if set-up properly) with very nice tone and very playable. Sure, they only sold for about $100 new way back in the late 60's early 70's, but a red label guitar in excellent condition will fetch you about $250 to $300 today. Hardly beaters IMHO.
  10. I read somewhere in my search that the "T" in FG345T just referred to the finish colour. Could that be right?
  11. Here you go: FG345: 1977-1981, Spruce laminate top, Rosewood back and sides, Mahogany neck, Indian Rosewood fingerboard. MSRP was $260 new. Everything I could find indicates it's a guitar with very nice tone. I found reference to "blue book value" at $35 in good condition; that doesn't sound right. But, as posted above, they may sell for as much as $200-$300. That sounds better.
  12. Don't know much about it, except that it's a laminate and probably from the early 70's. Don't think it has much resale value even in good condition, but I bet it has nice tone. It's a great garage sale find! Put a few bucks and a few hours into it, and you just may have a very decent bang-about guitar. I bought a Washburn for $10 at a moving sale. I polished out most of the scratches, cleaned and oiled the fingerboard, changed the saddle, nut, bridge pins, and strings... and now I've got a pretty nice guitar with deep, mellow tone that I actualy play a fair bit, and take with me everywhere without any worries.
  13. Thanks for your great feedback! I don't know what's happening to me lately, but l can't seem to pass by a Yamaha guitar without checking it out.
  14. Hey, all you Yamaha guitar enthusiasts. I came across a Yamaha FG410 A/E today... in really fine condition. I'm guessing it's about 20 years old. Do you think this laminate top guitar has any value as a collectible. Guy's asking $180.
