Members acousticdepot
This is a really attractive price. I like the idea of having two separate channels going into the PC so I can adjust levels between the two mics after the track has been recorded. Anybody have an experience with this using two condensers? http://www.zzounds.com/item--MDOMOBILEPRE
Members guitarist21
WOW! That is a crazy good price! I wonder what the catch is, if there is one. I am tempted to spring for it myself, even though I already have a decent recording interface.
Members BLUtunes
Never used one myself, but I know that the M-Audio stuff gets VERY high praises from most amateur recording enthusiasts, especially their recording interfaces. I have one of their tube microphones (the Solaris) that is simply incredible.
Members rhancox
I don't have that unit but I do use a two channel unit (Saffire, in my sig) with two condenser mics (also in my sig). I typically use both mics on the guitar and create one stereo track. It is so much better than a mono track using one mic and one channel. Check out the latest 3-4 songs on my YouTube channel for a sample. That's an excellent price for that unit. The only catch may be the quality of the mic preamps. Members Etienne Rambert
I own at least four of M-Audio products. They're pretty good. I don't own this one. And it doesn't make sense for me. 1. Most notebook computers have A/D inputs. I get good recordings just using those on my 2 notebooks. 2. The mixing function doesn't make sense because I already have 2 mixers, a 16 channel & a 4 channel. 3. The monitoring feature is the only thing it offers that I don't have. But because I use MIDI & 2 laptops, I don't need it. But maybe it makes sense for you. I used to have one of their A/D converters & it worked. I ended up realizing I didn't need it and left it in the US. EDIT: Most modern computers, laptop & otherwise have ASIO drivers. Almost every software allows you to monitor via ASIO. So the monitor feature on this is not really such a big deal. Bottom line: If you can't bounce between laptops like I do & you don't have ASIO-compliant software or a mixer - it's a good thing to have.
