Members IGWright
I'm gonna be going away at Christmas and I wanted to be able to access my computer (desktop) during that time. I understand that there are websites where you can log you computer on and then access it from another computer. Has anyone every tried this? Phil O'Keefe
Well, there's the Windows Remote Desktop software that comes included with Win XP. If you're running a Mac, I can't give you any advice... There's also a software app that they're advertising the crud out of on TV around here called Go To My PC, and that may be useful, but IIRC, it's a monthly subscription based thing, and it may cost more than you're willing to pay. Members kevinnem
yea, .. just a heads up, .. and I am not sure of the exact specs on getting it working, as I have not set mine up for a few months. BUT I think for it to work you need to turn off guest accounts. I also think that the remaining account(s) have to have passwords. Lastly, if you go through a router, you have to forward ports, .. 54 I think, but you can look up on google what port remote desktop uses. It is VERY haveddy to have. Oh yea, .. and even if you have a dynamic IP address, it useaay doesn't change very offten so don't worry about taht too much.
