Phil O'Keefe Posted March 11, 2010 Share Posted March 11, 2010 If your virtual synth allows you to route external signals into it (and as Ken said, many do), then you can... but you won't get the entire synth that way... you'll usually only be able to use "parts" of it, such as the filters and effects and maybe the envelopes, but not the wavetables or oscillators. For example, if you run a guitar into Digidesign's DB33 organ virtual instrument plugin, you can route the guitar through the Leslie speaker sim, but it's not going to "trigger" the actual Hammond tonewheel simulation - for that, you'd need to use a MIDI guitar of some sort.
