My new Edwards LPC JS

Here's my new Edwards E-LP-85-CD-JS.

Basically, a John Sykes LP Custom replica.

edwards1gp4.jpg

The fit and finish is perfect.

No, blems anywhere.

Weighs around 8.75lb I would say.

Neck is a medium C shape.

It has a short neck tenon.

neckrouteel8.jpg

Frets are immaculate. No buzz anywhere.

She was set up pretty decent. But, I still lowered the action a little more to my preference. Still no buzz.

Frets seem to be medium-jumbo.

Definitely not as tall as the Dunlop 6100 frets on my Carvin.

Headstock inlays ( Logo and design) are real MOP shell.

Sorry, but a Gibson bell truss cover will not work with the Edwards.

Reason being there's no wood there for the screw closest to the nut to screw into.

But, the Epi style bell may.

Since that uses a 3 hole design, and extends to the nut.

Fretboard inlays are synthetic MOP. Very common with Asian guitars.

My Diodatis, Fernandes, and Schecter have the same material.

I believe Archers Tokai does as well.

I still think it looks better than the inlay material on production Gibbys.

Fretboard is a nice ebony.

Does not seem to be dyed.

You can see some blonde streaks here and there. This is common with natural ebony.

Even my Carvins have that.

This does not bother me. Actually makes me relieved.

Then I know it hasn't been dyed to cover something up.

Binding is excellent on body, neck, and headstock.

No over-spray or bleed-over anywhere.

Frets seem to be medium-jumbo.

Definitely not as tall as the Dunlop 6100 frets on my Carvin.

The nut is not plastic.

It looks to be synthetic bone. Like a TUSQ nut.

It's a very nice nut, and I'm having no tuning problems with it at all.

Strings glide through it with no binding.

Tuners and TOM/tailpiece are Gotoh.

Tuners are sealed.

The tom is ABR style and has the retaining wire holding the saddle screws down.

The tom is also direct mounted into the wood.

No bushings to screw into.

The tailpiece does have the bushings.

Sorry about the dust.

Pickups are Duncan Distortions.

Definitely a high output pickup.

Not for those wanting a classic tone imho.

Bezels are chrome plated plastic. Not metal.

But, seem to be pretty solid.

Mirror pickguard is plexi with a mirrored coating on it.

The plexi is a decent thickness. Thicker than the cream pickguards on my Diodati 58 and Fernandes Ravelle.

Knobs are Top-hat style.

Seem a little taller than your conventional top-hat.

Least, I

Congratulations Kent! Don't remember you giving any hint that you had that coming...kept it real quiet.

:p

Sweet guitar...

:thu: :thu:

ESP is gonna have to step up production just to keep with all the guitars they're selling 'cause of this place!

Now if you ever get the yearning to sell one of those Deodati's, you know where to find me...

Dunno man, you were displaying some hefty unhealthy interest in the Edwards threads.

That is a very beautiful guitar man.......my son, who is 5 and was guuted when I sold my black Gretsch says that is the coolest guitar in the world:thu: :thu: :thu: :thu: :thu:

I gotta admit LP in black rank alongside Gold Tops.

Hey Kherman, Nice Guit. Ive been contemplating getting one of the Edwards custom copies for a while. Now seeing that one makes me want one even more. Also John Sykes is one of my faves! With a christmas bonus comin up in the next few weeks I think I can see myself pullin' the trigger on one of those badboys. How is the playability/sound compared to the actually Gibson Les Paul Custom? (have had my share of MIJ Gibson copies but never an Edwards). Been a while since i played an actual Gibson custom. had a nice '76 Black Beauty as my main axe in the mid-80's but have only had a few standards since then.......Oh yeah, one more question. Is the neck any thinner than the Ravelle?

I haven't played a real Gibby LPC in a long time as well.

So, I really couldn't say.

I'm sure because of the Edwards LPC JS having Duncan Distortions, it's not going to sound the same.

Those pickups are very hot.

That's why I suggest for those wanting a more traditional tone

to go with the regular E-LP-85CD or E-LP-90LTC.

Also, i haven't had a chance yet to crank her through the

big rig to see what she can do.

I got it through Ishibashi Music.

http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/webshop/guitar/index.htm

If you look at the web page, on the top right side there's

a tab that says "In English".

Click on it, and it will pull up an english page for

ordering or asking questions.

Daisuke was my rep.

Transaction went very smooth.

The guitar got here pretty quickly.

If there's something you want but don't see on the Ishibashi website,

Just email them through that english site.

They can pretty much get anything.

I may be wrong about the tenon.

Looking at the pics more, it looks like there's two lines coming

down the neck wall.

Then possibly a indentation in the bottom.

I think I'm going to have to pop back out the pickup and score a little section off with an exacto knife to see.

Ho does it compare to the Ravelle Deluxe? I just got done playing my Ravelle and was just totally blown away. Been a couple of weeks since its been picked up. Everytime I want to sell it, I play it and it stays. I payed a total of $349 for my Ravelle which included in that price the trading in of an Epi Goth Explorer with a destroyed finish, yeah I got a hell of a deal!

Kehrman that guitars just oozes cool!

I like the way you layed it out like that. The pictures really show the quality and tyhe attention to detail on the Edwards models. I know what I am going to ask Santa for this Christmas. Good Score!
